Några nya bilder från CWR finns nu på Wikin.

The Cold War Rearmed (CWR) modification is a collaborative project with BI and community fans to bring the ever popular Cold War Crisis campaign and content into ArmA. The idea is to rework the original content to take advantage of the enhancements BI has made to the ArmA engine. As a second phase, the CWR team also plans to convert the Resistance campaign and content.

Den holländska militären spelade mot några vanliga ArmA spelare i en tävling som anordnades för en tid sedan. Jerry Hopper från armedassault.eu rapporterar.

"The army uses war-games to prepare soldiers on a wide range of combat-situations. In attempt to research the best use of war-simulations within the dutch army,the 'Defense and Security' department of TNO organized a gaming contest."

"Five experienced civilian players will take it up against 5 trained military personnel, who play the game following 'army doctrines'."

Release Candidate 3 av verktygen ute.

It contains numerous fixes from the previous releases so it is highly recommended to use this full suite. Note that it will overwrite previous versions of the tools.

This package will install complete editing tool suite for Bohemia Interactive's game engine used in ARMA.

The suite consists from:

Oxygen 2 Personal Edition - model editing and animation package
Visitor 3 Personal Edition - terrain and map editing
TexView 2 - texture convertor and viewer
BinPBO Personal Edition - packer
Sound Tools - sound and lipsync utilities
BinMake - conversion tool
Tools Drive - main working directory for tools with mandatory data files

Allie har på BIS forum visat upp sitt arbete med en ny ö. Landskapet ska likna Iran och Iraks gränstrakter.

Although very much incomplete we are looking for plenty of feedback and help if possible. Anyways enjoy and use at your leisure. Unfortunately there is no Readme but simply put the .pbo into your addons directory or mod folder.

BIS ger oss ytterligare en bit info om ArmA 2 på nya hemsidan.

ARMA 2 was announced, and now you probably want to learn more about it.

Compared to ARMA, we're concentrating on the following improvements for ARMA 2:

* Campaign with RPG elements, and with a story combined with dynamic events
* Improved AI, especially in Close Quarter Battles
* AI using taunts and hand signals for coordination and increased immersion
* Much more realistic terrain, based closely on real world data
* Optimizations for dual/multi core systems
* Console and PC release

And as usual, there are some changes which are perhaps not that important, but we still hope they will help to make ARMA 2 a more enjoyable game.

* Increased facial detail
* Increased vegetation detail
* Ambient animals
* Improved building destruction (we will return to this in some future blog)
