The open contact in the region has been over for some time. The US led Coalition forces have managed to dismantle the armed forces of the region, leading into a situation, where also the guns have spread outside of the official military. This has caused the fighting to continue against hardly organized guerilla forces The Coalition forces have formed a “Green Zone" into the Sa’hatra city area, which is combat free zone, however every now and then there have been incidents including small armed assaults against Coalition and roadside bombs.

The US forces have been contacted about possible IED threats in the Green Zone. The informant has promised to meet the Coalition forces in the Eastern outskirts of the city. The Coalition has pointed to this operation Army’s Rifle and Engineer Platoons. As the Engineer Platoon is now being moved to the area, it has also been signed to clear the main highway going West from the “Green Zone”. This will be briefed before the mission.

A week ago there were also reports of a huge explosion in the Western Sa’hatra, and based on the sound of the explosion and the intel of the crater, it must have been an explosives storage of some of the area's operators. If possible the operating company is to investigate the case.

This operation is an important step to stabilize the area and to gain the trust of the civilians.
